Dr. Maltish Lorenzo began his undergraduate career at UCLA, where he developed a passion for biopolymer chemistry research. His research earned him many prestigious honors and awards, including acceptance into UCLA’s highly competitive honors program. This allowed Dr. Lorenzo to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and a Master of Science in Organic Chemistry simultaneously.

He obtained his medical degree from the world-renowned Harvard Medical School, where he initially developed an interest in ophthalmology. He became infatuated with a field that enabled him to combine his passion for surgery and developing close relationships with patients. During his time at Harvard, he worked closely with and learned from many of the world’s leading ophthalmologists and conducted groundbreaking glaucoma research that resulted in several publications. After a successful time at Harvard, he returned to his home city to complete residency at the prestigious UCLA Stein Eye Institute. During residency, Dr. Lorenzo had extensive training in medical and surgical treatment of eye diseases including, but not limited to, cataract surgery, laser refractive surgery (e.g., LASIK), and minimally invasive glaucoma surgeries (MIGS). 

Dr. Lorenzo brings his Ivy-League caliber and passion for vision care to Eye Physicians of Long Beach. As a first-generation physician, Dr. Lorenzo treats every patient with the highest level of expertise, empathy, and compassion. He ensures that every patient receives personalized care tailored to their individual needs to achieve the best outcomes.

Outside of his medical practice, Dr. Lorenzo enjoys spending time with his family, wife and labradoodle puppy. He also enjoys traveling, trying new foods, and exercising.
